Masquerade is an ability in Deathloop that is available when the Masquerade Slab is equipped. Masquerade is only available when players are playing Julianna who has the slab equipped by default.

Gameplay

Masquerade allows Julianna to swap appearances with a target, letting her confuse Colt and hide in plain sight.

Masquerade is unique to Julianna, and cannot be picked up or used by Colt.

Upgrades

Masquerade has four possible upgrades, which are unlocked as part of gaining ranks in Protect the Loop.

File:Masquerade Upgrade Incognito.pngIncognito: Attack and remain Masqueraded. If you get hit, lose Power instead of Health.

These upgrades were added as part of the Goldenloop update in September 2022.

Tactical information

• Unfortunately, using Masquerade doesn't change Juliana's animations to be more like an Eternalists, her distinctive run, idle, crouching and even looking animations remain the same and very obviously the actions of a player and not an NPC. An experienced Colt will see through the disguise.
• Additionally, Masquerade costs a point of Power and prevents power from regenerating meaning that you will have less access to your other Slabs.
• That being said, since the Goldenloop update Masquerade has improved enormously.
  • Mend is some of the only mobile healing options available in the game, giving Juliana much more flexibility in recovering after skirmishes with Colt.
  • Incognito acts as a "Soft Havoc" giving Juliana some increased tankiness in fire-fights, with the benefit it doesn't constantly drain power.
  • Ensemble unfortunately requires the use of a point of Power each time you use it, but it amplifies the effects of Mend, meaning that if combined with Plasma Power Juliana can maintain some effects for free or enormously speed up her healing.
  • Expose can be used to help find Colt's location, especially if paired with Ensemble - even if you are not using Ensemble it can make Colt wary that you might have it.
